June Haul

Today I thought I would share with you some of the bits and pieces that I have picked up during the month of June.

Haul- Revlon, Rimmel and W7
I'll first start with the items that I picked up at a local discount beauty store. This shop stocks a whole host of brands and products and discounted prices. I picked up another Rimmel Glam Eyes Eyeshadow this time I got the shade Punchy Taupe (160) for £1.99. The quality of these eyeshadows is amazing they are really pigmented and really easy to blend. I picked up a Revlon Photoready Blush in the shade Flushed for £3.99. I don't own many cream blushes so I thought I would give this one a go as I love Revlon and this colour is really pretty. I then picked up the W7 Light Diffusing Concealer for £2.99. It looks very similar to the YSL Touche Eclat so I thought I would give it a go. I picked up another Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick as I really like the formula of these and I loved the colour of this one. I got the shade Funtime Fuschia (320) for £2.99. The last item I got was a Revlon Lipgloss from the Super Lustrous range. I got the shade Berry Allure (225) as I remember Essiebutton mentioning it a few years ago and I love Revlon lip products and it was only £2.99.

MUA Haul
I then picked up a few bits from MUA as I had a few things on my wishlist. I got 2 lipsticks as I think that the lipsticks are a great value for money at just £1. They have a pretty decent shade range and the quality is pretty good there are a few hit and miss shades but usually the darker shades are the better ones. I got the shades 2 and 3, the one thing I don't like about them is the fact that they don't have names as it makes them seem a bit boring (am I the only one you thinks this?). I picked up another one of their blushers as I really like them. I already own Marshmallow, Candyfloss and Lolly and I have now added Bubblegum to my collection (I intend to own all the shades!). The last think I got was from the Luxe range it is the Velvet Lip Lacquer in Criminal, I only picked up one of these despite having other shades on my wishlist as I wanted to see whether I liked it as I am not normally a fan of matte lips but I wanted to give these a try.

Sanctuary Spa Haul
In Boots I picked up some Sanctuary Spa minis as I've heard a lot about the brand but have never tried anything from them before. I think that minis are the perfect way to try out products without committing to the full size version. I got the Body Moisture Spray as I thought that it would be perfect for summer. I also picked up the Illuminating Moisture Lotion SPF15, the Fresh Faced Purifying Wash and the Body Butter

Seventeen Haul
I also picked up some bits from Seventeen as they had a free gift when you bought any 2 products. I haven't tried many things from Seventeen but I have good things about some of their products. I got the Skin Wow 3 Way Highlighter. This can be used in (you guessed it!) 3 ways: you can use it as a primer, mixed with your foundation or as a highlighter on the cheekbones. I have read some great reviews of this so I thought I would get it. I also got the Cheek Stamp Blush in  Made You Look, this is such a gimmick but I love gimmicks so I just had to have it.
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
The last thing I got was the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer as it was in the clearance section for £2.50 so I thought I'd get a back up as it was cheaper.

What have you been purchasing?

June Magazine Freebies 2014

This month there are some amazing magazine freebies to be had. As I have said in the past magazine freebies are a great way to try new brands and products out for less. Magazines often offer brands such as Nails Inc. and Benefit so it is a great way to try things without having to spend large amounts on a full size product that you might not like.

So I thought I'd start with a couple of freebies that I myself did not pick up but you may be interested in. Cosmopolitan and Tatler magazine have a variety of sunglasses to choose from. The only reason why I did not pick up this freebie is because I wear prescription lenses so I wouldn't be able to see out of the sunglasses if I had bought them. The only other freebie this month is in Glamour magazine and it is not one I'd recommend. It is the Eyeko Skinny Eyeliner in blue or black. I got this last year and it is one of the worst eyeliners I have ever tried so I would suggest that you give this freebie a miss.

June Red Magazine 2014
The first freebie I did pick up was in Red Magazine. They had a choice of 4 different nail polishes from Mavala. I haven't tried any Mavala polishes before so I was excited to pick up this freebie. They had 4 colours to choose from a red, a blue, a nude and an orange. I chose the shade Waikiki Orange (169) as I don't have many oranges in my collection. I am yet to try this polish but I am really looking forward to try it to see what the quality is like.

Red Magazine: £4

June Marie Claire Magazine 2014
The next freeibe I got was in Marie Claire. They had Ciate Caviar Manicure sets. If you've followed my blog for awhile you may be aware that I do not like textured nails and I really don't like  Caviar beads as they are too messy so you may be wondering why I picked this up. I picked it up for the polish that comes in the set as I really like Ciate polishes and I can always give the beads away to someone else. They had 6 sets to choose from and I went for the red colour which is called the Sunset Shimmer set. It comes with a polish in the shade Play Date and the Caviar beads in the shade Cloud Nine.

Marie Claire: £3.90

June Harper's Bazaar Magazine 2014
Harper's Bazaar had full size Leighton Denny nail polishes this month. I really like Leighton Denny nail polishes after trying one last year which I got in a magazine. The one I tried was called I Love Juicy and it came as part of a duo with a base and top coat on one end and the colour on the other end. There is a choice of 6 shades I got the shade Lolly Pop as this was the only colour my Tesco had and also it is a pink and I love pink nail polishes.

Harper's Bazaar: £4.20

The last freebie I have to talk about is in Instyle Magazine. They have a 30ml sample of the REN Hot Cloth Cleanser which comes with a muslin cloth. I like REN skincare but I can't afford to try out there products too often as they are quite expensive. This freebie has come at a good time as I have nearly ran out of my current cleanser.

Instyle: £3.90

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder Review

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
I ordered this powder awhile ago from Fragrance Direct as I'd heard a lot of great things about it. Unless you've been living under a rock you will know that this powder is super popular amongst bloggers and youtubers. I've had this review in my drafts for ages. The main reason that it has taken me this long to review it is because the first time I used it I was disappointed. To me it just seemed like an ordinary face powder it didn't do anything particularly special and I just couldn't understand what all the hype was about.

However a couple of months ago my skin was very oily which I found odd as my skin is usually normal- dry. As a result a lot of the makeup I was using was not working on my oily skin I found that I was becoming shiny throughout the day which is something that I hadn't really had to deal with before so I decided to try the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder which I had put in my collection and almost forgotten about.

I am glad I did go back and try this as it really helped me through my period of oily skin. I found that it did reduce the shine and although I did have to touch it up throughout the day I didn't have to touch up as much as I'd been doing with the other powders in my collection. I now understand the hype this powder is really good if you have oily skin but if you don't have oily skin and you don't get shiny throughout the day then this powder won't be amazing for you. Don't get me wrong it sets your foundation just as good as other powders but I think in order to understand the hype you really need to have oily skin in order to understand why everyone raves about this powder.
Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
This powder is good as it comes in a variety of shades, I got the shade Transparent so it doesn't add any extra colour to my skin. The powder feels very light on my skin and doesn't look cakey. It controls my shine for most of the day. When I apply it at 7 in the morning I find I don't need to touch it up until about 1ish so it lasts a really long time.

Rimmel Stay Matte Powder
My only issue with the powder is the packaging. The packaging unlike my Maybelline Fit Me Powder doesn't feel very secure and I'm always nervous about taking it with me in my handbag or makeup bag as the lid has a tendency to fall off. Also I notice with this powder although it has more product than the Maybelline one (this one has 14g of product the Maybelline one has 9g) this one seems to have gone down much quicker despite the fact that I have used the Maybelline one more.

Overall this is an good powder if you have oily skin but if you don't have oily skin then you'll probably find this powder at bit meh.

Have you tried this powder? What do you think?

Penne Pasta and Parma Ham Recipe

I wanted to start sharing some more lifestyle posts on my blog as I love reading lifestyle posts. However unlike many bloggers I don't do anything worth blogging about so I thought I would share with you some recipes. Some of them will be healthy some won't. My mum goes to Weight Watchers so a lot of the food we eat is pro-pointed so I will be able to share the points with you for some recipes.

Today's recipe is very quick and easy to do. It isn't the most healthiest option but in my opinion it is the best comfort food. If you've had a rough day and your feeling down then this is the perfect tea to have as it takes about 20 minutes to cook and is really yummy.

Ingredients:
Penne pasta
Vegetable oil
Parma ham
Mushrooms
Creme fraiche
Cheese
Parsley

First you need to cook the pasta, add the pasta to boiling water and cook for 8 minutes. Then you need to fry half the parma ham and then put it to one side. Next fry the mushrooms for 2-3 minutes. Then add the creme fraiche and wait for it to boil. Once it is boiling add the pasta, cheese, parsley and the remaining ham and mix it all together. Once you've mixed everything together you are ready to serve. Sprinkle the crispy Parma ham on top to serve.

This is a very quick and easy tea to make. This to me is the ultimate comfort food.

Let me know if you try this recipe.

NOTD: Blue Sky

I am back to blogging. My exams are now over so I concentrate on my blog a lot more now. I have truly missed  writing posts but my exams were and always will be more important so I had to take a break from blogging whilst I was revising for my exams. Now that I am back though I am going to be much more focused on my blog and Youtube  and now that I have had a break I feel very refreshed and have lots of posts planned for you but as always if you have any requests then please let me know.
NYC Blue Sky Nail Polish
I thought that I would share an NOTD with you today. This is another polish from NYC. I have already featured Spring Tulip on my blog which I really loved. This one is called Blue Sky, I don't know who came up with this name but  I think they may need their eyes testing as this is clearly a green colour. It is a gorgeous mint green colour that is very vibrant and looks similar to Barry M's Greenberry

NYC Blue Sky Nail Polish
NYC is a brand that I haven't tried too much from ( I have my eye on a few of their products). The products that I have tried from them I have really liked so I really need to try more from them (any recommendations?). They have a fantastic range of  nail polish colours and they are super affordable at only £1.79 from Superdrug and they are often on offer.

NYC Blue Sky Nail Polish
The formula is really good for a budget brand. It takes 2 coats for the colour to become fully opaque. The brush is one of those wide brushes which makes application a little bit easier. This polish lasted really well about a week before it started chipping. I love this colour and I think it is gorgeous for spring/summer.

What have you got on your nails at the moment?
