Real Techniques Blush Brush Review

I am a massive fan of the Real Techniques brushes before getting quite a few of their brushes for Christmas I had only tried the Core Collection and the Starter Set but after seeing so many reviews of  the Blush Brush I knew I had to try it. I love blush it is one of my favourite makeup products so it felt only natural that I should try the Blush Brush.

All the Real Techniques brushes are super soft and are made from talkon bristles and are 100% cruelty free. They are all made to a really high standard and I have never had a brush that sheds. They wash really well and even my beloved buffing brush that I have had for over a year still feels as soft as when I got it. All the brushes that I own have kept their shape even after being washed many times.

The Real Techniques brushes are all coloured coded, gold is the base application, purple is for the eyes and pink is for finishing. I love how the brushes all have different colours as it makes them easy to identify and I also think that they look quite pretty. All the brushes are clearly named which is always handy. I think that the shape of this brush is perfect for applying blusher, it is slightly tapered and is the perfect size and shape for applying blush to the apples of my cheeks. The bristles are so soft and fluffy which means that the brush isn't harsh on your skin at all. The bristles are quite densely packed which means that it picks upa good amoun t of product. I have only ever used this brush for applying blush but I have heard of people using it to contour with and apply powder.

I can honestly say that I am in love with this brush I love how it applies my blusher and I find that due to the size it is much easier to apply blush. I previously used the Contour Brush that comes in the Core Collection and although I still like that brush I use it more for contouring and applying highlighter as this brush has completely taken over my blush routine.

You can buy the Real Techniques from many places such as Boots and Superdrug. It retails at £9.99 but you might be able to find it cheaper on websites such as Amazon and Fragrance Direct.

Have you tried this brush? What do you think of it?

NOTD: Scarlet Sparkle

NOTD: Famous Scarlet Sparkle
Firstly I want to apologise for the poor lighting in these pictures I had to use artificial light because it was really dark and I needed to take these pictures.

NOTD: Famous Scarlet Sparkle
This is a nail polish from Famous, I haven't tried many products from them but the few I have tried I haven't been that impressed with. I saw this polish in Poundland and the colour immediately jumped out at me. I thought that it was a gorgeous colour. The colour I picked up was Scarlet Sparkle (36) which is a gorgeous red with gold glitter running through it.

NOTD: Famous Scarlet Sparkle

NOTD: Famous Scarlet Sparkle
I really like the colour but I found that this polish didn't last very well. It only needed 2 coats but I found that it chipped very quickly by day 2 it had already started to chip, I expect my polishes to last longer than that I usually get a weeks wear out of a polish. I was slightly disappointed with this nail polish but I can get past it because I really like the colour. I think that it is a lovely colour for winter perhaps if I used a top coat it would last a bit better. I don't' normally bother with a top coat and most of my polishes last ok but perhaps I'll have to use one if I want to wear this for a prolonged period of time.

What have you got on your nails at the moment?

Small Haul February 2014

Today I thought I would share with you a few bits and pieces that I have picked up recently.
I picked up some Batiste Dry Shampoo in the Tropical scent. I previously had the Blush scent which I hated but I really wanted to give dry shampoo another go as it can be really useful for refreshing your hair. I also picked up the Aussie Miracle Hair Insurance I love this leave in conditioner it smells amazing and leaves my hair feeling really soft.

I had already tried and loved this Dove conditioner so I thought I would get another bottle and as it was buy one get one free I decided to pick up the shampoo. They smell amazing and leave my hair feeling so soft.

I then picked  up a few skincare items. I got the Garnier Micellar Water as I had seen it on a lot of blogs and I really wanted to give it a go. I love micellar waters and I am currently using the L'Oreal one which I love. I'd heard great things about the Botanics All Bright Toner so I thought I would get it as my current toner has nearly ran out. I saw the Simple Eye Balm and thought that I would give it a go I've had really dark circles recently and I thought that this might make me look more awake.

I picked this hand wash up from the Body Shop, the Vanilla Bliss range is one of my favourites but you can only get it at Christmas so when I saw this hand wash I knew that I had to get it.

I got this gorgeous feather/leaf necklace from Dorothy Perkins it was a bargain at £2 and I really love it. It is quite simple and it will go with so many outfits. The last thing I picked up was the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine in Blue Grape I really like the look of Nails Inc Baker Street but £11 is a lot to spend on a nail polish so I was looking for a similar colour in Boots. I saw this one and as I knew I already liked this range I thought I would give it a go. I love the colour and the shiny finish just makes it look even better.

Have you bought anything recently?

Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset Breeze Review

Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset Breeze
This is something I bought quite awhile ago from Poundland. They had quite a lot of these in the shop and I was intrigued by them. Milani is a brand that is difficult to get here in the UK but I believe that it is much more widely available in the US. I believe that Milani is a drugstore brand but I have seen some very positive reviews of their products in the past so I thought I would give this a go.

Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset Breeze
This is a blush and bronzer duo called Sunset Duo in the shade Sunset Breeze. I really like multi- purpose products and I thought that this duo would be very handy for travelling and also it means that I only have to reach for one product in the morning instead of two.

Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset Breeze
I love the gold packaging with a clear lid. Although this is an affordable brand the packaging still feels very sturdy. The blush is a gorgeous pink with shimmer running through it. This can we worn subtlety or you can build it up. I really like this blush for applying a small amount of colour to my cheeks. I love the bronzer in this, it is a matte bronzer so it can be used for contouring as well. I love the colour of this as it is not too orangey or too muddy so it looks perfect on my pale skin.

Milani Sunset Duo in Sunset Breeze
I have been reaching for this nearly everyday and I am really impressed with it. This product isn't as pigmented as some but it is definitely buildable. My only problem with it is that I wish the blush and bronzer was equally split across the compact as I find that my Real Techniques Blush Brush is too big to fit in the blush part.

Have you tried these?

NOTD: A Pink Polish From Maybelline

This really gorgeous pink polish is from the MNY range that Maybelline launched. The MNY range was a range of nail polishes, eyeshadow, lipglosses and eyeliners. This range was aimed at a younger audience but I believe it has been discontinued as I have seen it in places such a Poundland and on Fragrance Direct. I actually picked this nail polish up in the charity shop British Heart Foundation for 99p. I picked it up because I fell in love with the colour and I knew I would wear it a lot.

Pinks are one of my favourite colours to wear on my nails, I have so many pink polishes but I don't own anything like this. It is a gorgeous pink with a blue shimmer running through it. This polish is of a really good quality it lasted a week before it started to chip and I only needed 2 coats I really love this polish. The only downside to this polish is that it doesn't have a shade name it is just called 261 which I think is really boring. I think that Maybelline could have taken the time to give names to their products even if this range was aimed at a younger audience I think it would  have been nice if it had a shade name as I love some of the quirky names that some polishes have.

Overall I love this colour and I will wear it a lot. What have you got on your nails at the moment?

Clothing Haul January 2014

Recently I have bought quite a few bits of clothing the majority of it is from Primark but I have one item that isn't from Primark but I still wanted to share it with you.
So I got this first dress from Dorothy Perkins. It is made of quite a thick material it doesn't have any sleeves. It has pleather detailing around the collar and a white panel down  the middle of it. My school have recently relaxed the uniform rules for sixth formers so I am now allowed to wear dresses as long as they aren't brightly coloured and when I saw this I thought it would be perfect for school. I really like this dress and I think I'd be able to wear it outside of school as well. The best part about this dress is that it was a bargain at £7 down from £22.

Now onto the things I got in Primark. I really like their £3 t-shirts as they are very simple and easy to wear and they usually have a cute pattern. I picked up this white t-shirt with black hearts on. These tops are very affordable and in my experience last pretty well. I think that this will look lovely with jeans, I find I do have to get a size larger than I normally would as the sleeves can be a bit tight.

I love this top and I have already worn it so many times. I love the style of it and the fact that it has Mickey Mouse on makes it even better. This top will work well with jeans or leggings and I am completely in love with it. I may pick up another one as it was only £7.

I am a massive fan of the £5 skater dresses that Primark do. The style is really flattering on me and they do a great variety of colours and patterns. I have got the plain red one and I have worn it so much that I thought I would pick up some more. The 2 black ones I thought would be suitable for school, I love the blue flowers and the dots on them. I picked up the green one as well as I thought I would wear it quite a lot it was only £2 as it was in the sale. The red one was also £2 so I may have to pick another one of those up as well.

I am going shopping again at the weekend so I will probably have another haul for you as I plan on going to Primark again as they have some lovely bits in at the moment. What have you bought recently?

Lipstick Tag

Today I am going to do the lipstick tag, I took the photos for this post quite awhile ago so some of my answers may have changed so I think I'll have to do an updated one soon as I have since bought and discovered a few more lipsticks.
1) How many lipsticks in your collection?
29- However since I have taken the pictures I have got quite a few more now so it is 31 I think.
2) How old were you, when you started using lipstick?
I think I was about 15 or 16 when I started wearing lipstick so not that long ago. It is only very recently that I have started wearing brighter colours.

3) Show a lipstick you use to stand out
I love ELF's Gypsy to stand out with, it is a gorgeous plum colour which is beautiful in autumn. I also like Rimmel's Moisture Renew in Sweetheart Tulips (275) (this is one of the old formulas)

4) What are lipsticks you cant you leave the house without?
Currently I love the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Pink In The Afternoon (415) as it is a gorgeous nude colour that is very easy to wear as it goes with everything. I also really like Collection Volume Sensation in Sea Shell (10) it is a gorgeous pink colour that looks gorgeous. I also really like Seductive from ELF as it is a very easy to wear red shade that is quite subtle so you can wear it during the day without it feeling too much.

5) What was the last lipstick you bought?
This has actually changed as I have since bought more lipsticks but the one in the picture is a Rimmel Lasting Finish in Sweetie (014) which I got from Tesco for 89p. It was in the reduced section and I think there was a mistake with the labels as all the other said £4.89 except this one so I got quite lucky there.

6) What lipstick did you regret buying?
There are 2 lipsticks that I regret buying. The first one is a Maybelline Colour Sensational in Rosy Dream (109). The colour of this looks horrible on me and there is so much glitter in it. When  put it on my lips it doesn't feel smooth because of all the bits of glitter in it. The other lipstick is the L'Oreal Colour Riche in Sensual Rose (379) again this colour just doesn't suit me. It is a gorgeous but completely wrong for my skin tone. I do however really like the formula of this and I have since bought another lipstick from this range in a colour which does suit me.

7) What is your favourite lipstick at the moment?
I love ELF's Gypsy it is just a perfect colour for this time of year. It really compliments my skin tone. The formula is really creamy and doesn't dry out my lips and the ELF lipsticks are really affordable at only £1.50.

8) What is your most expensive & inexpensive lipstick?
I don't really own any high end makeup but the most expensive lipstick I own is from Calvin Klein which has been discontinued so you can get them in a lot of different places for lower prices. The Calvin Klein lipsticks are worth £13.50 but I didn't pay that for this. I have the shade Flutter which is a lovely subtle red, I love the formula but the packaging feels very cheap considering these were £13 I expected a bit more from the packaging. My cheapest lipstick is from MUA I have Shade 6 in this picture and I love the colour. These lipsticks are really good quality considering how cheap they are. I really want to try some more colours from them.

9) Can you show us a lipstick you Love?
I really like this lipstick from Natural Collection in Raspberry it is a lovely colour and so inexpensive. They have a great range of colours and for £1.99 you can't really go wrong.

10) Do you Like, Love or Addicted to Lipsticks?
I'd say I love lipsticks and am verging on being addicted to them. Compared to some people I don't have many lipsticks and then compared to other people I have quite a lot of lipsticks. I love buying lipsticks and I really enjoy experimenting with new colours.

11) Show a lipstick that reminds you of someone special
This is a Maybelline lipstick from the Satin Collection (I don't think that this is still available) in the shade Empire Red. This was Mum's lipstick which she have to me when I first started wearing makeup. This lipstick reminds me of her, I don't actually wear it but I kept it for sentimental reasons.

Have you done this tag? leave me your links so I can read yours. I tag all of you to do this tag and let me know if you do this tag.

Giveaway Prize Win

Last week I was lucky enough to win a giveaway hosted by Beauty Crowd and ELF cosmetics . It was on their Twitter page and it was a simple RT competition. I'd completely forgotten about it until I got a DM saying that I had won, I was very excited and I thought that I would share with you what I won. I thought that it was going to be a few bits and pieces from ELF so I was really surprised when I got the box and it had 13 items in it.
Firstly I got the Shimmering Facial Whip in Pink Lemonade I had seen these on the website and I thought they looked really nice. You can use it on your cheeks, eyes and lips so I'll be interested to try it out. I love multi-purpose products as they are so handy especially when travelling. I also got a tinted moisturiser which I am looking forward to trying. I am looking for a really light base that I can wear to school and I have been trying tinted moisturisers, BB creams and light coverage foundations trying to find a product that I love so I can't wait to see what this is like. I got a All Over Cover Stick in the shade Persimmon I already have one of these in the shade Toasted and I like to use it on my eyes. The shade I got looks like it will be the perfect highlight colour. I got the the Mineral Booster in the shade Shimmer which is a loose powder highlight. I haven't tried much from the Mineral line so I am looking forward to giving this a go.

I got 2 of the Jumbo Lip Gloss Sticks, I already have one which I love and I have reviewed here. The shades I got were Tiki Torches and In The Nude it will be interesting to see if these are just as good as Flirty & Girly which is the other shade I own. I also got the Mineral Infused Face Primer, I own one face primer and it is the sample of Benefit's That Gal so I am looking forward to trying this.
I got the Shimmer Palette which is another multi- purpose product as you can use it on your cheeks, eyes or lips. This palette looks like it will be perfect for the cheeks as it has some gorgeous pink shades in that will be perfect as blushes. I got 2 products which I already own the Baked Blush in Peachy Cheeky and Contouring Blush and Bronzer Powder in St Lucia what I plan to do is not open these and then use them in a giveaway that I plan on hosting when I reach 200 followers. I also got the Tone Correcting Powder which is a product that I am intrigued to try as it will be interesting to see how it works.

I was also lucky enough to be sent 2 palettes. The 48 Piece Little Black Beauty Book (Cool Edition) and the 100 Piece Eyeshadow Palette (Marble) both these palettes have a great range of colours and I am looking forward to experimenting with them.

I am so happy with everything that I got and I would like to thank Beauty Crowd and ELF Cosmetics for sending me this amazing prize.

ELF Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick in Flirty & Girly Review

ELF Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick in Flirty & Girly
I am a massive fan of lip crayons and when I saw that ELF had some on their website I knew I had to try one. I chose the shade Flirty and Girly.

ELF Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick in Flirty & Girly
These have some great ingredients in them such as Jojoba, Soybean and Vitamin E which are said to help moisturise the lips.

ELF Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick in Flirty & Girly
I love the packaging of these, they have a white casing with a clear lid so you can see the colour. The end is also colour coordinated to match the product. I like that ELF have opted for different packaging from other brands the majority of brands that have these products such as Clinique, Revlon, MUA, Bourjois, Rimmel, L'Oreal pretty much ever single brand that has a lip crayon has the same packaging. I do like that packaging but I like that ELF has gone for something different instead of copying what everyone else has done.

ELF Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick in Flirty & Girly
The colour is a fuchsia pink with blue undertones which helps make the teeth seem whiter. This product does have glitter in it but unlike some other lip products the glitter doesn't feel gritty on my lips. Although it does have glitter in it I don't feel that the glitter is too much and I think it is still suitable to wear during the day. I can't speak for all the shades in the range but this one is very pigmented, I think that some of the lighter shades would be quite sheer but you would be able to build them up. The lasting power is pretty good they last a couple of hours, when it fades it leaves a bit of colour and shimmer. Unlike some these are advertised as being lip gloss sticks so they aren't supposed to stain your lips so that is why they don't last as long as some of the others that I have tried.

ELF Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick in Flirty & Girly
The formula is very creamy and smooth on my lips. This formula is very hydrating and I think it is because of the added ingredients: Jojoba, Soybean and Vitamin E which helps to keep the lips hydrated. One complaint that I have about it is the smell, it has an odd smell which I can't describe it isn't particularly horrible but I prefer the minty smell the Revlon ones have.

The colour range is quite impressive for a cheaper brand, it has 8 shades in total so there should be something for everyone. I really like this product and I would definitely get some others as I am really impressed with this. This is much cheaper than the other ones available but in my opinion it is just as good.

Product: ELF Jumbo Lip Gloss Stick
Price: £2.50
Shades: In The Nude, Summer Nights, Coco Loco, Pink Umbrellas, Tiki Torches, Sangria Starter, Movie Star and Flirty & Girly
Where to buy: ELF
Score: 8/10

Have you tried these?

Weekend Wishlist #11 MUA

So this week I thought I would do a brand focus wishlist. I haven't bought anything from MUA in quite a while but there are a few things that I have got my eye on. I've seen Miss Budget Beauty rave about the Intense Kisses Lipglosses and I really want to give them a go. They have some great colours in the range and they are really affordable so even if I don't like them I won't have wasted too much money. Recently I have been getting into doing my eyebrows and I am enjoying trying out different brow products the Power Brow looks really good, not only does it have a brow product it is also comes with a highlighter as well. I am a massive fan of mascara it is the one thing I never leave the house with out. My sister has the Volume Mascara and says that it is very good I want to try Lash Boom as the wand looks very unique although I don't really need any more mascaras as I already have quite a lot.  Last item on my wishlist is the Velvet Lip Lacquers as I have heard good things about these. Recently I have been using my Rimmel Apocalips a bit  which I originally wasn't a fan of but it has grown on me. They are especially good if you are going out all day and don't want to have to touch it up.

What's on your wishlist?

NOTD: L'Oreal You Are Worth It with Pink Spots

L'Oreal's You Are Worth It (617) nail polish is one of my favourites. When I got it as part of a free gift I wasn't sure whether I would ever use it as I wasn't sure about the colour but when I used it, it became one of my favourite polishes. It is such a gorgeous unique colour and I have used it quite a lot. A little while ago I got some nail dotting tools and I really wanted to give them a try. I thought Revlon's Sweet Tart would work really well with You are Worth It and I am really pleased with the finished result.

I love this combination I think it works really well. You Are Worth It needs 2 coats to become opaque. It has a wide brush so you can get a really even coverage on the nails. I love the dot effect and although I probably won't do it all the time I think it looks really cute and I am very glad that I bought the dotting tools.

What have you got on your nails at the moment?
